This is a short study, by no means complete or full detailed, but one I put together to share with someone.

Truth vs Worldly Wisdom:

There are two and only two references to live life by.
Truth or Worldly Wisdom, both of which are delineated in detail in scripture, truth as being encouraged and worldly wisdom to be avoided at all costs.

Truth is definitive, unchanging, eternal, ordained and given by God and found in only One Place, scripture, God's word, his revelation to mankind. It is a call to instruction in the right way of life and fellowship with God.

Worldly wisdom, error is a construct of men, based in senses realm, finite, always changing, temporal and has its foundation in the doctrines of the serpent, the devil, the evil one, the enemy of God. He instigates the perpetuation of this error in the guise of making it look good, impersonating light and that which will bring safety. But rather it leads its followers to reject (knowingly or unknowingly) truth. The serpent, as first demonstrated in Genesis, is a deceiver and a liar who wishes only eternal death upon all men and to minimize the potential of born again believers.

Jesus, our Lord and saviour, who always did the will of his father, and who desires only eternal life for all men, said...
Joh 17:17  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Where do we find God's word? In the world, in the news, in politics? No, but rather in scripture or in direct revelation given by God to his prophets. God's legitimate prophets only. Look what God says about false prophets.

Jer_14:14  Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of naught, and the deceit of their heart.

Wow, that sounds like the news, social media cries for reform, demonstrations causing divisions, strife and envy, politics, disasters, climate change, covid-19 and more... All those things are not legitimate information to help us.

Lam_2:14  Thy prophets have seen vain and foolish things for thee: and they have not discovered thine iniquity, to turn away thy captivity; but have seen for thee false burdens and causes of banishment.
Mat_7:15  Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Mat_24:11  And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

False prophets deceive many! They say woe, fear, death and destruction. God says we are more than victorious, delivered from the wrath to come, have overcome the world, have peace with God, have eternal life, to fear not, have the love of God in our hearts, etc. See the difference?

Mat_24:24  For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Mar_13:22  For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.
Luk_6:26  Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.
2Pe_2:1  But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
1Jn_4:1  Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Therefore seek after truth. Yes we are saved and have eternal life, but do we want to go through life with our heads filled with error? No.

Look what God states in Ecclesiastes, the conclusion of the whole matter!!!

Ecc 12:13  Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear (respect) God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

To respect God we must keep his commandments, not speaking of the ten commandments, but rather whole of his written word to us, his instruction, heart and will, that is his commandments. His commandments are found in only one place, scripture, and is is the whole duty of man to do this.

Did any of the prophets or Jesus, or apostles every say anywhere in scripture, to read the news, get the latest news about the king or emperor, or get involved in politics, or make sure you know who to vote for, investigate every conspiracy theory, or learn about the coming doom? No, no, no... that is the wisdom of the world. We are to follow the examples of the those apostles and believers of scripture, especially Jesus Christ and his accomplished work of complete deliverance, spiritually, mentally and physically.

1Co_3:19  For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
1Co_1:20  Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
1Co_1:19  For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
1Co_2:6  Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to naught:

The princes of this world are the devil spirit realm that rule the darkness of this present evil world. Look what God says in James about this wisdom.

Jas 3:3  Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
Jas 3:4  Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
Jas 3:5  Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
Jas 3:6  And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

The tongue is a fire when it is not confessing, professing and engaging in truth, God's word. It goes on to say...

Jas 3:8  But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

Man by his own wisdom, cannot tame the tongue... but with Gods wisdom the tongue is tamed and brings forth goodness.

Jas 3:10  Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
Jas 3:11  Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
Jas 3:12  Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

God is saying here, get single minded on truth, not worldly wisdom when you see the news and Godly wisdom on Sunday. Jas_1:8  A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Here is how you can tell the wisdom of the world. “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.” That is how you discern the difference when you see the news, hear a new theory, listen to the politicians, etc.

Jas 3:14  But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
Jas 3:15  This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
Jas 3:16  For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

We see envying and strife in the world, in the news, on TV, in the streets, in theories about terrible times coming, from politicians... get the picture? "This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish." That's how you tell the difference.

Jas 3:17  But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
Jas 3:18  And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

Wow....
But the wisdom that is from above (from God) is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

This is the profit we gain from truth, from scripture, from the wisdom from above... it brings all these things to our lives. The world will not bring these things! So decide where we put our allegiance and attention. Choose!! Truth or error, it is that simple.

Deu 6:1  Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:
Deu 6:2  That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
Deu 6:3  Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.
Deu 6:4  Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
Deu 6:5  And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Deu 6:6  And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
Deu 6:7  And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Deu 6:8  And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
Deu 6:9  And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

Where does God want his word? In our hearts, all the time with laser focus and attention, looking not to the right or to the left at the world, but straight ahead unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith and the instruction that follows his accomplished work written in Acts which is the example of the rise and expansion of the Christian church (believers) in the first century, the blueprint that we are to follow. Then the church epistles written directly to the born again believers, the saints. That's Us!
